Five Huskers Earn Trip To Junior Olympics

The Nebraska rifle team had five members honored with the opportunity to compete at the 2019 Rifle/Pistol National Junior Olympics and Paralympics. Competition will be held in Colorado Springs, Colo. Air rifle action will begin on April 14 and run for two days. Smallbore will begin on April 16 and will conclude on April 18.  

Emily Cheramie qualified for the air rifle competition with a score of 593. Elizabeth Lorentz will join her, qualifying with a mark of 586. The remaining qualifiers are Kinga Aletto (585), Elena Flake (583) and Mari Butler (571).

Three of the five Huskers also qualified for smallbore competition. Emily Cheramie qualified with a score of 576. Elena Flake (575) and Mari Butler (570) will be joining her in competition.

The Junior Olympics serves as an avenue to becoming a member of the Junior National Team, comprised of athletes up to 20 years of age. Athletes from this match are often selected to attend the Junior World Championships and World Cups.
