Uveges, Cooke Lead Huskers Past Mavs 6-0
Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on Sunday afternoon after defeating Omaha 6-0 at the Hawks Championship Center.
In this first half, the Huskers picked up right where they left off last weekend with a surge of goals. Only two minutes into the first half, Theresa Pujado scored first with Savanah Uveges following with her own goal at the four minute mark. With NU already up, in the 24th minute, Brenna Ochoa widened the gap with a goal off of an assist from Adriana Maldonado. Uveges would get her second score of the first half in the 26th minute off of an assist from Kenzie Coons as the Huskers would take a 4-0 lead into the second half. A great defensive effort held Omaha to a scoreless half.
In the second half, it was all Nebraska again with Natalie Cooke being the lone scorer for the Husker adding two more scores to the total in the ninth minute and the 14th minute.
Nebraska has concluded home soccer matches but will continue their spring campaign against Minnesota on a neutral site in Ankeny, Iowa on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. CT.
