Huskers Announce Signing of Isabel Adrover Gallego
Lincoln, Neb. - The University of Nebraska women’s tennis team officially announces the signing of Isabel Adrover Gallego, a native of Mallorca, Spain and one of the top prospects in all of Spain. She ranks as the No. 36 player in Spain’s national rankings and the No. 372 player in the ITF World Tennis Singles rankings.
Adrover Gallego earned eight WTA points in 2018 and made the finals of an ITF Pro Women’s circuit singles event last October.
The incoming freshman marks the third member of NU’s 2019 recruiting class, joining Overland Park, Kan., natives, Chloe and Ellie Kuckelman.
Huskers Head Coach Scott Jacobson spoke about the quality of player his program added today.
“We are honored to have Isabel join our Husker family,” Jacobson said. “She is one of the most talented players in all of Spain, and for that matter, the world! What a tremendous gift to the future of Nebraska women’s tennis.”
First-year Assistant Coach Jaime Sanchez-Cañamares Rios played a big part in the recruitment of Adrover Gallego. He couldn’t be more excited to have her joining the class of 2019 in Lincoln.
“Isabel is very well-known for her character and work ethic, both on-and-off the court,” Sanchez-Cañamares Rios said. “She brings a lot of experience on the international tour and has high aspirations for her tennis career. She will make an immediate impact in our program and we’re looking forward to start working with her.”
Adrover Gallego is also currently ranked at No. 837 in the ITF World Tennis Doubles rankings and holds a UTR 10.92.
She chose Nebraska over several schools from the Big Ten, SEC and Pac 12 conferences.
