By NU Athletic Communications

Chicago -- Four Huskers were named to first and second All-Big Ten teams announced by the conference Monday, March 18. Senior Sienna Crouse and juniors Taylor Houchin and Sierra Hassel were named first team All-Big Ten, while freshman Adnerys De Jesus was named second team All-Big Ten for the 2019 season.

Crouse has been instrumental to the success the No. 17 Huskers have had this season, including arguably the best meet of her career last weekend at the 29th Annual Masters Class. Crouse has earned herself 13 event titles this season, including four meets where she has won multiple event titles. This is the second first team All-Big Ten honor Crouse has earned, first was in 2018, along with a second team All-Big Ten honor in 2017.

Houchin has been one of the most consistent competitors for the Huskers this season, boasting season highs of 9.90 or better on all events. She has a career high of 9.975 on vault and uneven bars, 9.925 on balance beam, 9.95 on floor exercise and 39.650. The fellow preseason Big Ten Gymnast to Watch has earned 11 event titles this season with five of those coming on uneven bars. She was named Co-Big Ten Gymnast of the Week this season, the week of Jan. 22 for her performance against Rutgers. This is the second first team All-Big Ten honor, being named in 2017. Last season Houchin was named second team All-Big Ten.

Hassel has been a force on balance beam and floor exercise this season, earning herself new career highs in the meet of her life at the 29th Annual Masters Classic. In that meet she posted scores of 9.975 on balance beam and 9.925 on floor exercise. The junior from Johnston, Iowa has taken home three event titles this season including two on floor exercise. This is the first All-Big Ten honor for Hassel.

De Jesus has had a phenomenal first year season being a spark for the team on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. The freshman from Greenwich, Conn. has recorded season/ career highs of 9.925 on vault, 9.90 on uneven bars and 9.85 on floor exercise. De Jesus was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week after her performance against Michigan, where she was also featured on Sports Center Top 10 Plays for her vault against the Wolverines. She has earned one event title this season on vault. This is the first All-Big Ten honor for De Jesus.
