Members of the Nebraska women's basketball team were honored for their work off the court during the annual Night at the Lied awards ceremony on April 7 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts on the University of Nebraska campus.

Junior Grace Mitchell earned a top honor for the Huskers by claiming a prestigious Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award. Mitchell, a 6-2 forward from Wellington, Kansas, was recognized as one of Nebraska's top performers across all sports in the areas of community service and leadership in NU's award-winning Life Skills program.

Mitchell was also recognized as a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. She was joined on the Osborne Citizenship Team by fellow Huskers Maddie Simon, Nicea Eliely, Kate Cain, Taylor Kissinger, Kristian Hudson, Leigha Brown, Sam Haiby, Kayla Mershon and Ashtyn Veerbeek.

Kissinger, a 6-1 sophomore from Minden, Nebraska, also joined Mitchell in winning Gold Academic Medallions recognizing student-athletes who have produced a 3.750-4.000 grade-point average. A total of 103 Husker student-athletes across all sports earned gold medallions in 2018-19.

Cain, a 6-5 sophomore center from Middletown, New York, claimed a Silver Academic Medallion (3.500-3.749 GPA), while Simon, a 6-2 senior forward from Lincoln, Nebraska, added a Bronze Academic Medallion (3.000-3.499 GPA). Kissinger, Cain and Simon all joined Mitchell in earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2019.

The Huskers will come together to cap the 2018-19 season with the annual women's basketball banquet on Sunday, April 14.
