Huskers Complete Competition at Two Meets

The Nebraska track and field team concluded action at both the Beach Invitational and Kansas Relays on Saturday.

On the track at the Beach Invitational, George Kusche won the Invitational 800 meters with a time of 1:49.30, while Ty Moss finished third with a time of 1:49.58.

Chelsey Jones was fifth in the Invitational 400 meters and finished in a time of 55.77. Mia Morck also placed in the Invitational 800 meters and was sixth with a time of 2:11.40.

At the Kansas Relays, Nick Coghill was the runner-up in the shot put with a season-best throw of 56-7 1/4 (17.25m).

In the discus, Alex Meyer finished third with a throw of 172-5 (52.57m), Shelby Brown was fourth with a personal-best mark of 170-10 (52.08m) and Marika Spencer placed eighth with a distance of 161-3 (49.15m). Kate Birchmier also qualified for the final and finished ninth with a season-best toss of 158-10 (48.41m).

Tony Nou placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 48.34.

The Huskers will split up and compete at the Texas Tech Shootout and Prairie Wolf Invitational next week.
