Five Huskers Receive Diplomas

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln held its 150th annual graduation commencement Saturday featuring 70 student-athletes, including five members of the swim and dive team.  

 

Animal Science major Cassandra Brassard competed for the Huskers from 2014-2017 as a strong backstroke and freestyle swimmer. During her junior campaign, Brassard was named CSCAA Scholar All-American honorable mention and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She earned Academic All-Big Ten for two consecutive years and made the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for six semesters. Brassard is also a three-time member of the Herman Team GPA Award.

 

Civil engineering major Lindsay Helferich is one of nine Huskers to receive the 2019 Outstanding Scholar Award at the annual Night at the Lied ceremony, which is presented to student-athletes in their final season of eligibility while carrying a 3.90 or better GPA. Helferich has made the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for seven consecutive semesters and was a member of the 2016 and 2017 Herman Team GPA Award. The Texas native was named CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention in 2016 and 2017. She is also a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Nutrition and Health Science major Jacqueline Jeschke received the 2019 Heart & Soul Award presented by Life Skills at the annual Night at the Lied ceremony. Jeschke was one of eight winners across Husker sports to earn the most prestigious individual award. The Georgia native earned CSCAA Scholar All-American honorable mention in 2017. Jeschke is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and made the Nebraska Scholar Athlete Honor Roll for seven consecutive semesters.

History major Morgan McCafferty is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a five-time member is the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. McCafferty is also a two-time member of the Herman Team GPA Award.

 

English major Katrina Voge represented the divers as she crossed the stage. Voge competed for the Huskers during her freshman through junior years. She was named the 2018 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and named CSCAA Scholar All-American honorable mention in 2016 and 2017. The Wisconsin native is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and made the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for seven consecutive semesters. She is also a two-time member of the Herman Team GPA Award.
