2019 Recruiting Class Ranks No. 14 in the Nation

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln, Neb. – The 2019 Nebraska women’s tennis recruiting class has been named the No. 14 class in the nation according to Tennis Recruiting Network and Mizuno. The Huskers also claim the No. 1 recruiting class in the Big Ten, getting the edge over defending Big Ten champions, Michigan.

With three seniors graduating this May, the Huskers add four freshmen to the 2019-2020 roster, including twins, Chloe and Ellie Kuckelman, of Overland Park, Kan., and two international recruits in Kristina Novak of Radovljica, Slovenia and Isabel Androver Gallego of Mallorca, Spain.

Head Coach Scott Jacobson is thrilled to see such a strong group of newcomers move to Lincoln.

"We are excited that this class is being recognized on a National scale as one of the best recruiting classes in the country!" Jacobson stated.

Recent graduates of Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kan., Chloe and Ellie Kuckelman come to Nebraska holding the No. 1 and No. 2 rankings in their home state, respectively.

Outside of high school, Chloe has a 31-16 overall record, and Ellie has an impressive 28-15 mark.

Next to join the 2019 class is Isabel Androver Gallego. As one of the top prospects in Spain, Adrover Gallego is ranked No. 36 in her home country and No. 372 in the ITF Women's Singles rankings and No. 837 in doubles, with a UTR of 10.92.

Closing out the elite 2019 class is one of Europe's top prospects, Kristina Novak. The Radovljica, Slovenia native, is the No. 386 player in the world in the ITF World Tennis Singles rankings and No. 65 in the ITF World Tennis Doubles rankings.

In 2018, Novak participated in the Australian Open Juniors tournament. Novak has also won a total of seven ITF Junior Doubles tournaments in Austria, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina (twice), Hungary and Slovenia.

Jacobson, who is entering his 29th season as Nebraska head coach, is more than ready to get back to work for the 2019-2020 season.

"With a tremendous group returning and four phenomenal freshmen, we have high expectations for the upcoming season," Jacobson expressed.
