2006-07 Season Outlook

Emilee Crawford has been a top backstroker for the Huskers and will be relied upon heavily again this season. She was a team captain last season and her steady improvement could make her senior year her best yet as a Husker.

2005-06 (Junior)

Crawford, a co-captain, made her largest contributions during the Big 12 Conference season. Against Kansas, Missouri and Iowa State, Crawford finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke, her primary event. She went on to a 21st-place finish in the 100-back at the Big 12 Championships. Her season-high finish came in a runner-up performance in the 200-back against Nebraska-Omaha. In the same event, Crawford was 14th at the Minnesota Invitational and 23rd at the conference meet, while also competing sparingly in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM.

2004-05 (Sophomore)

Crawford was Nebraska's No. 1 backstroker as a sophomore, holding the top times in both the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes.  The Kansas native registered six top-10 finishes in the backstroke events and won the 100 at Southwest Missouri State, helping NU to its first dual victory of the year.  Crawford also competed in the 50-yard freestyle at the Minnesota and Texas invitationals. She set career- best times in all three events at the Big 12 Championships, and she placed 12th and 13th in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events.

2003-04 (Freshman)

Crawford helped lead the Huskers to a 7-2 dual record by posting solid times in several events throughout the season.  She won the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.17) in NU's dual victory over Nebraska-Omaha.  She added a first-place finish against Nebraska-Omaha as a member of the 400-yard medley relay squad in a time of 4:01.08.  Crawford helped NU to its fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships with season-best times in the 100-yard backstroke (58.29) and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.90).

Crawford served as co-captain in 2003 at Blue Valley Northwest High School, where she was team MVP three straight years (2001-03).  She finished second at the state meet in the 100-yard back as a junior and senior.  Crawford also swam for the KC Blazers and Coach Pete Malone.  A U.S. Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2003, as well as the Kansas City Metro Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year, Crawford served as the secretary of the National Honor Society as a senior.

Emilee is the daughter of Susan and Roger Crawford and was born on Feb. 3, 1985 in Kansas City, Mo.  She has one sister, Madeline.  Emilee is majoring in communication studies at Nebraska.
