Gordon Selected for All-Star Futures Game
KANSAS CITY – Former Nebraska All-American Alex Gordon received another honor this week, as he was selected by Major League Baseball and Baseball America for the 2006 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game.
Gordon, a two-time All-American at Nebraska, will lead a group of 25 prospects on the Team USA Roster that will go against 25 prospects on the World Roster on July 9 at Pittsburgh's PNC Park. The game will be televised nationally at 3 p.m. (central) on ESPN2 to begin All-Star game week activities.
Gordon was in action this week participating at the Texas League All-Star game. On the season, Gordon, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 MLB Draft, is hitting .301 with a .404 on-base and a .515 slugging percentage. He is is among the Texas League leaders with 19 doubles, nine home runs and 30 RBI. He is also fourth in the league with 14 stolen bases and has been caught just one time in 2006.
