Nebraska drew 81,149 fans for the 2008 spring game. Tickets for the 2009 game go on sale on Feb. 4.

Husker fans will have their first opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2009 Red-White Spring Game on Wednesday, Feb. 4 beginning at 8 a.m. The game--the first opportunity for the public to get a look at the 2009 Cornhuskers—will be played on Saturday, April 18. Kickoff has been set for 1 p.m.

Nebraska fans may purchase tickets on-line at Huskers.com, by phone at 1-800-8-BIG-RED, or in person at the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office, located in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage. Reserved tickets are $10 each. No television is planned for the game.

For the first time, Nebraska will be selling nearly all of Memorial Stadium on a reserved ticket basis for the spring game. Last year fans could purchase reserved tickets in the East and West Stadium, and after a positive response Nebraska officials have expanded the reserved seating for 2009. Due to the reserved seating throughout the stadium, all individuals must have a ticket for the game with the exception of children under the age of one.

Only a handful of sections designated for specific groups will be withheld from the reserved ticket sales. Nebraska fans are also reminded that there were no walk-up sales for the 2008 spring game, and if all reserved tickets are sold in advance of this year’s game, there will again be no ticket sales on the day of the game. More than 22,000 tickets were sold on the first day of sales last year, and 25,000 reserved tickets sold out in less than a week. All seats for last year’s spring game were sold 10 days before the contest.

Nebraska will once again conduct the Drug Free Pledge at halftime of this year’s game. Youth (eighth grade or younger) who take part in the Drug Free Pledge will be admitted for free to the game, but need to secure a ticket in advance of the contest. Parents or sponsors of the youth taking part in the Drug Free Pledge will need to buy a reserved ticket, but will be seated with the youth in a designated section.

Nebraska also announced that UNL faculty and staff will be able to purchase reserved tickets to the spring game for $5. Faculty and staff should purchase their tickets in person at the ticket office or over the phone, and will also be asked to show their staff ID at the gate on the day of the game.

UNL students will be admitted for free to the game, but will need to have a ticket in hand for admittance. The Athletic Ticket Office will e-mail students with more details on obtaining spring game tickets.

The Husker Nation Pavilion will also be part of the festivities for the Red-White Spring Game. The pavilion will open at 10 a.m. and include numerous family-friendly activities. Saturday, April 18 will also mark the final day of the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships which will be held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The event begins on Thursday, April 16 and ticket information for the NCAA Championships is available on Huskers.com.

The spring game is also part of a University-wide Husker Spirit Fest. For more information on other activities check unl.edu or HuskerAlum.com.
