Lincoln is home to some of the Midwest's finest golf courses, including Firethorn Golf Club, where the Huskers frequently practice. Home to the 2003 Women's NCAA Central Regional, the Pete Dye designed course was rated 36th among the top 100 modern courses in the country.

In addition to playing host to the 2003 NCAA regional, Firethorn has also hosted the 96th United States Women's Amateur and the 2002 Division III Men's Golf Championship.

The Nebraska men's golf team hosted the Fairway Club Invitational at Firethorn seven times from 1999-2005.
