Shannon Dickerson made one start and appeared in two games for the Huskers in 2008, before her season was ended by a knee injury.
After a solid first season at Nebraska, Dickerson suffered a torn ACL during the Huskers' spring season and did not compete during the fall of 2007.
Dickerson played in 16 games for Nebraska in 2006. She owned 10 starts, including seven during the Big 12 regular season, as well as one during the opening round of the Big 12 Championships.
A tall midfielder, Dickerson added another option on set plays and fired 12 shots, six on goal, in 2006. One of those shots resulted in a goal against Texas on Oct. 15, as Dickerson netted the first score of her career on a cross from Brittany Timko.
Dickerson also earned a game-winning assist in Nebraska's final regular-season contest against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 25. With the help of defender Anna Caniglia, Dickerson pushed the ball through the Rambler defense to find Brittney Lanier for the go-ahead goal.
Dickerson attended the University of Southern California, but did not play because of an injury.
Dickerson helped ThunderRidge High School to the 2002 Colorado state title as a first-team all-conference selection. Dickerson continued to excel as a sophomore by capturing honorable-mention all-conference honors. In 2004, the 5-11 defender pushed her team through the regional quarterfinals with a game-winning header in double overtime.
Dickerson played club soccer for the Colorado Nike Rush, which earned three consecutive State Cup championships under Coach Tim Schulz. Dickerson was also a member of the Region IV U-16 finalist squad, Region IV U-17 semifinalist team and a member of the No. 9 nationally ranked U-18 team.
The daughter of Mark and Cynthia Dickerson, Shannon has one sister, Meredith. Shannon was born on April 21, 1987, and is majoring in marketing at Nebraska.
