Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove

On the NU scout team offense helping the defense prepare for this week
“We’re fortunate that we have to good scout team quarterbacks (Sam Keller and Brian Hildebrand) to give us an outstanding look (at the USC defense). Both have good arms, they get rid of the ball on time and make our safeties work.”

On what sticks out most about the USC offense
“I think their explosiveness. Their skill players are outstanding and they have some big-time offensive linemen. They are the complete package.”

On the USC offense
“They are a complicated offense. They are similar to what we doa lot of movement and a lot of shifts. You have to be solid in what you are doing, otherwise they’re going to get some big plays. We have to do things that are sound and give us a chance to play well.”

On the toughest part of preparing for this week
“I think everyone knows this is going to be a big game. We are playing a great football team. I think the biggest thing when we practice is that it is hard to show the speed of the game and what is actually going to happen. You don’t have your athletes like that on the scout team. The speed that they play at is just something that you are not used to.”
