On defensive end Adam Carriker’s selection as Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year:

“First thing, I think it’s a big compliment, because it’s the coaches who voted for it. I think it’s well-deserved.”

On Bo Ruud’s selection to the All-Big 12 First Team:

“When you really watch Bo, he’s graded well all year. He’s made a lot of plays. He’s always around the ball and he’s very noticeable when he’s on the field. Plus, he’s played a lot. With the injury to Steve (Octavien) for most of the year, Bo’s been on the field quite a bit.”

On working on improving tackling:

“We’re doing the same thing (this week) that we do every week and every practice. We tackle every day—open-field and close tackle. The bottom line is you have to have your body in position to make the tackle, and as we coach on these drills we work on it daily.”

On Oklahoma’s running backs:

“(They are) downhill guys and aggressive runners. They are very talented and have the ability to break a long run at anytime. We’re going to have to have great pursuit and a lot of guys around the football.”
