On quarterback Zac Taylor’s selection as Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year:

“That’s great news. I think that’s a credit to everybody—his teammates—and I’m sure Zac would be the first guy to tell you that. I’m just really happy for the guy. He’s had a great career in a short amount of time here. He’s made a great contribution. I’m just really proud of him, and it’s a great credit to his teammates who executed and worked hard to get him to that point where he can be recognized that way.”

On NU’s red zone proficiency:

“Our guys understand what we’re trying to accomplish. That’s the quarterback, offensive line, running backs and wide receivers all being on the same page. One of the things that we were looking at is that Jordan (Congdon) hasn’t been able to get into much of a rhythm, but Jordan hasn’t gotten to kick many field goals. But that’s a credit to our guys finishing drives and the execution down there. It’s hard to score down in there when the field gets shorter, but we’ve been able to be in a little bit of an attack mode down there. That’s what we want to do. We’ve been able to make the plays when we’ve had to make them.”
