Lincoln - Coach Callahan Charities: A Fresh Start on Fashion is gearing up for the spring fashion show. Registration is now available on-line for the grand event which will be held at the Rococo Theater (134 No. 13th) in downtown Lincoln on March 2, 2007. Kicking off at 6 p.m., the evening will feature a social hour, followed by an elegant sit-down dinner catered by Green Gateau, and the fashion show at 8:30.

The fashion show will feature the newest spring fashions modeled by Nebraska Athletic Department coaches, wives, former Husker players and celebrity guests. Nebraska alumna Shelley Smith, who is a veteran ESPN reporter and a key member of ESPN’s College GameDay will emcee the evening. All proceeds will go to Fresh Start, a local charity that is in the process of building a new facility to provide housing for women in need.

Fresh Start provides shelter, supportive services, and fulfills basic and emergency needs for women invested in attaining and maintaining self sufficiency. It is the only agency of its kind in Nebraska. The new facility will be built in Havelock to allow more room for women needing a home.

Coach Callahan Charities, Inc. is a non-profit organization that head football Coach Bill Callahan established to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations created to fight breast cancer and diabetes, and to provide services, support and hope to economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth and families. To date, Coach Callahan Charities has raised nearly $200,000 through events such as Football 101 and the Fun Run/Walk for local charities.

A Fresh Start on Fashion will showcase a wide variety of clothing and accessories provided by Dillard’s and Murray’s for Men and Women of Stature. Attendees will have an opportunity to get a sneak peek at the spring fashions with an array of shoes, jewelry, make-up and hairstyles. Hairstyling for the event will be provided by Center Stage Salon & Spa, while fine jewelry will be provided from Wright’s Jewelers. Other local companies who have generously joined in the charity event include Lanoha Nurseries, Medical Aesthetics in Lincoln, the Lincoln Journal Star and "L" Magazine, Elliott Broadcasting Services, Jacob North Printing Company and the Husker Sports Network.

Attire modeled will include casual, evening attire and game-day favorites. Also on display will be the Lazare Diamond Jacket, provided for the evening festivities by Wright’s Jewelers. Lazare Diamond, renowned as "the world’s most beautiful diamonds" partnered with acclaimed Japanese designer Risuko Shiraham, to create an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind diamond encrusted evening jacket valued at $1,000,000. Delicately layered rows of Lazare Diamonds signifying a bouquet are sewn directly onto the jacket to give a three-dimensional appearance and maximum beauty. This stunning design consists of 2,010 ideal cut Lazare Diamonds totaling 300 carats, and two pounds of platinum.

Dinner entertainment will include music from expert performer Dr. Darryl White. An associate professor of trumpet at the University of Nebraska School of Music, Dr. White has earned his name performing throughout the country at jazz festivals, clubs, orchestras and studios as a soloist. At the Rococo, he will be joined by his jazz quintet.

This special event will also offer an opportunity to bid on numerous items and unique packages, such as a "USC game-day Husker Experience Ticket Package," a stunning jewelry piece from Wright’s Jewelers, a Waterford crystal vase from Dillard’s, product and services from Medical Aesthetics, Center Stage, Premier Jewelry Designs and many more items to be announced at a later date.

Preferred seating for four (4) is available for $1,000 on the orchestra level (main floor) of the Rococo Theater with limited runway seating still available. A table for four includes a catered dinner, listing in the evening program and table gift and a portion of the registration fee will be tax deductible. Individual second-floor balcony seating for the event is $100 each (or $400 per table) and also includes dinner and a great view of the show.
