ABC Sports and the Big 12 Conference announced on Friday that Nebraska’s season opener against Nevada on Sept. 1 will be carried on a regional basis by the network. Kickoff from Memorial Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m.
The Nevada contest is the third Husker game already selected to be televised by ABC this fall. Previously, the Sept. 15 home contest against USC was picked for a prime-time national telecast beginning at 7 p.m., and the Nov. 23 regular-season finale at Colorado was slated for an 11 a.m. national telecast.
The ABC telecast against Nevada will mark the first time Nebraska’s season opener has been televised by ABC since NU’s 2003 victory over Oklahoma State in Lincoln. It will also be the Huskers’ seventh straight regular-season game dating back to last season that has been televised by the network. Overall, Nebraska appeared on ABC eight times in 2006, tying for its most games on the network in one season.
Television plans and a kickoff time for Nebraska’s Sept. 8 game at Wake Forest are expected to be announced in the near future. Game times and television announcements for the remainder of NU’s schedule will come six to 12 days in advance of the games.
