2003 (Senior)
Defensive end Trevor Johnson led NU's defensive linemen in tackles (68) and tackles for loss (9) as one of four team captains in 2003. He capped his career by earning Defensive NVP honors in Nebraska's 17-3 Alamo Bowl win over Michigan State. Johnson recorded a pair of sacks on MSU's opening possession to set the tone for a dominant performance by the Blackshirts. he finished the game with five total tackles, including two sacks and two quarterback hurries.

An honorable-mention All-Big 12 pick by the coaches in 2003, Johnson was chosen in the seventh round (234th overall selection) of the 2004 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. The 2003 Nebraska Lifter of the Year also showed his work ethic in the classroom as a four-time first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree.

Johnson closed his career with 131 career tackles, including 22 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 49 career games with 22 starts. He rebounded from a knee injury in fall camp that slowed him the first four games of 2003 to record 54 of his tackles in the final nine games, including a career-high 12 stops in NU's 28-0 shutout of Iowa state. He finished third on the team in tackles for loss (9-39), second in sacks (4-31) and tied for second in quarterback hurries (11).

2002 (Junior)
Johnson began the season No. 2 on the depth chart, but took over a starting role vs. McNeese State. He started at both ends, filling in for the injured Chris Kelsay, finishing the year with six starts at right end and three starts at left end in place of Kelsay. Johnson finished the year with 54 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, and was second on the team with 15 hurries. Johnson had a total of five tackles in the first four games, before a four-tackle, two-TFL effort at Iowa State earning him a start the next week. He responded with a season-high eight tackles against McNeese State and seven vs. Missouri, when he added three hurries and shared a sack.

Johnson had six tackles and three hurries against Texas, added seven tackles and a TFL against Kansas and recorded a five-yard sack and recovered a fumble at Kansas State. He had four tackles, including two sacks (19 yards) in the first half of the Independence Bowl, but sat out the second half with a concussion, and Ole Miss rallied to defeat the Huskers. Johnson was also a member of Nebraska’s kickoff return team.

2001 (Sophomore)
Johnson switched to rush end from tight end in the spring and played in all 12 games, primarily on special teams as a member of the kickoff return team. Johnson posted nine tackles, including three solo stops and had a season-best three tackles vs. Rice, including a tackle for loss. He also had a tackle for three yards lost against Troy State, giving him 2-5 on the season. Johnson’s hurry against Baylor caused an interception.

2000 (Redshirt Freshman)
Johnson played in 10 games as backup tight end, and only missed the Iowa game because of a hamstring pull. Johnson did not have a reception, but also saw action on NU’s kickoff return teams.

Before Nebraska (Northeast HS)
Johnson played tight end and defensive end for Coach Mark King at Northeast. He missed most of his junior year with a broken leg, but returned for an outstanding senior season, when he caught 42 passes for 736 yards and 10 TDs. He was a force on defense with 54 tackles, including 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks and eight breakups, with three defensive touchdowns. His play helped Northeast to a 10-2 record and its first state semifinal appearance in 16 seasons. Johnson earned super-state honors as a tight end from the Lincoln Journal Star and All-Nebraska first-team defensive honors from the Omaha World-Herald. He was the OWH Defensive Honorary Captain and the LJS Co-Player of the Year. The Nebraska Male High School Student-Athlete of the Year by both the Journal Star and World-Herald, he was also a standout performer in basketball and track. He earned LJS third-team super-state basketball honors after helping Northeast to four straight Class A state titles. Johnson won the all-class gold medal in the discus with a school-record throw of 185-2. He graduated with a 3.97 GPA, was a National Honor Society member, and earned academic all-state honors as a junior and senior. Johnson was recruited by several schools, but only visited Nebraska.

Personal
Born on Feb. 26, 1981, in Gordon, Neb., Trevor is the son of Cheryl and Robert Johnson. Trevor's father was a three-time captain for the Husker wrestling team, earning four letters (1973-1976), and is a member of the NU Wrestling Hall of Fame. A two-time member of the Unity Council, Johnson earned his bachelor's degree in finance in December 2003.
