2006 Outlook
Junior Titus Brothers looks to make a push for playing time in the Nebraska secondary in 2006, after serving in a reserve role over the past two seasons. The San Antonio native is listed as a reserve at cornerback, but has the versatility to also play safety. He could also factor into Nebraska’s nickel packages.

Brothers played in 10 games last season, primarily on kickoff coverage and as a reserve defensive back. Brothers finished the season with four tackles, with the final one the most memorable. Brothers teamed with Bowman for a tackle inside the Nebraska 20 to end Michigan’s wild scoring attempt on the final play of the Alamo Bowl, clinching a 32-28 victory.

The play against Michigan was the second game-winning defensive play of Brothers’ career. At Pittsburgh in 2004, Brothers had a pass breakup on the game’s final play to preserve a 24-17 victory. Brothers played in three games overall in 2004. He redshirted during his first season at Nebraska.

Brothers has good size at 5-11, 190 pounds and excellent speed, as evidenced by his off-season work with the Husker track team the past two years.

2005 (Sophomore)
Brothers played in 10 games, primarily on kickoff coverage. He also saw limited action as a reserve in the secondary. Brothers finished the season with four tackles, one each against Texas Tech and Missouri and two in the Alamo Bowl against Michigan, including the game-saving tackle on the final play.

2004 (Redshirt Freshman)
Brothers played in the first three games of the season. At Pittsburgh, he was called on for significant action with both of NU's starting corners injured. Brothers responded with his only tackle of the year, and two pass breakups, including one on the game's final play that preserved a 24-17 road victory.

Before Nebraska (Judson HS)
Brothers played a key role in Judson’s 14-1 record and Class 5A (Texas' largest class) state title in 2002. He intercepted two passes, had 18 pass breakups and recorded more than 30 tackles during Judson’s title run. Brothers scored two touchdowns as a senior, one on a fumble return and one on an interception return.

Brothers earned second-team all-district honors as a senior for Coach Jim Rackley. Brothers was a three-year letterman for Judson and started at cornerback as a junior. As a sophomore, he returned kickoffs and spent time at running back.

Brothers also racked up honors on the track for Judson. He was the district and regional champion in both the 100 and 200 meters and ran a leg on the school’s district championship 4x100-meter relay team as a junior. He finished fifth in the state in the 100 meters and placed seventh in the 200. As a senior, Brothers was on the 4x200-meter relay squad that finished fifth at the Class 5A state meet, and ran a leg on the 4x100 squad that took eighth place at the state meet. He chose Nebraska over TCU and Arkansas, while he turned down an offer to run track at Texas A&M.

Personal
Titus is the son of Sharon and Morris Brothers and was born on June 5, 1985. A psychology major, Brothers was named to the 2003 Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll. Brothers is active in Nebraska’s community outreach, assisting with local hospital visits. He will also serve as the 2006-07 president of Nebraska’s Your Degree First organization.
