2004 (Senior)
Darren DeLone provided much-need depth on the offensive line as a reserve tackle during his two years at Nebraska. He played in 22 of 25 games during his Husker career.

After sitting out the 2004 season opener against Western Illinois, DeLone returned to see action as a reserve offensive tackle in the final 10 games last season. He was one of the key components in the NU offensive line’s successful transition to the West Coast Offense last year. He helped the Husker offense set several passing records, while also paving the way for a 1,000-yard rushing season by I-back Cory Ross, the first for an NU running back since the 2001 season.

2003 (Junior)
DeLone did not arrive in Lincoln until after the start of fall camp, but moved quickly up the depth chart. He saw his first action against Utah State and played in each of NU's final 12 games. His playing time increased throughout the year as the offensive line was hit with injuries, and saw his most extensive action in wins over Iowa State and Texas A&M. He was also a regular on NU's PAT and field goal units.

Before Nebraska (Mount San Antonio CC/Garey HS)
DeLone was the first junior college offensive line scholarship recruit for Nebraska in at least 30 years, coming to Nebraska from Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut, Calif. DeLone was a two-year starter for Coach Bill Fisk. The Mounties finished the 2002 season with a 4-6 record, and DeLone started at offensive tackle and graded out at better than 80 percent every game. He started the 2001 season at defensive tackle, and moved to offense at the coaching staff’s request after injuries hit the offensive line.

DeLone attended Garey High School in Pomona, Calif., where he started on both sides of the ball. He primarily played tight end and defensive end, but also served as a rush linebacker and a goal-line fullback. He had 88 tackles and two interceptions for touchdowns as a senior to earn first-team all-league honors on defense. On offense, DeLone scored eight touchdowns for Coach Joey Mariani.

He also played basketball at Garey, starting at center all four years, and was a second-team all-league pick as a senior. DeLone set the school season and single-game (10) records for blocked shots. DeLone received scholarship offers from Arizona State and Mississippi State, but only visited Nebraska.

Personal
DeLone was born on Jan. 22, 1982, and is the son of Alex and Dorothy DeLone. He was a sociology major at Nebraska.
