2003 (Senior)
Fullback Judd Davies was a workhorse in four seasons on the field for the Huskers, including a primary starter in 2001, 2002 and 2003. A standout on the field and in the classroom, Davies earned a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship worth $7,500, while adding second-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2003.

One of four team captains in 2003, Davies was NU's No. 1 fullback and made eight starts, finishing the season with 89 yards rushing. A short-yardage back, Davies hit pay dirt five times to push his career total to 14 rushing touchdowns, eclipsing Joel Makovicka's previous school touchdown mark for fullbacks of 13 touchdowns from 1995 to 1998.

Davies finished his academic career with a 3.9 cumulative grade-point average as a pre-medicine/communication studies major and earned his bachelor's degree in December of 2003. He was a three-time academic all-District VII selection and a four-time first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree.

In his career, Davies rushed for 703 yards and averaged 5.3 yards per attempt. He had a career-high 119 yards at Baylor in 2001, and a career-long 57-yard gallop against the Bears in 2000. As a senior, Davies carried 33 times for 89 yards and five touchdowns. He finished the season strong, scoring a pair of touchdowns in NU's 24-3 win at Kansas, while adding the Huskers' final score in a 31-22 comeback win at Colorado.

2002 (Junior)
Davies played in all 14 games and was the starting fullback in 12 contests. The only two games he did not start were against Missouri and Kansas State, when Nebraska did not open in its basic I-formation set.

Davies finished the season with 193 yards on 42 carries with four touchdowns. He opened the year in strong fashion, scoring touchdowns in four of Nebraska’s first five games. He closed the regular season with an excellent performance against Colorado, rushing for a season-high 59 yards on just five carries, including a season-long 23-yard rush.

Davies carried at least three times in each of Nebraska’s first four games. He opened the year with three carries for seven yards, including a two-yard touchdown run against Arizona State. In Nebraska’s third game, he netted 14 yards on four carries against Utah State with a one-yard TD plunge. A week later at Penn State, Davies rushed four times for 21 yards and scored Nebraska’s only touchdown from two yards out.

He carried just two times in each of the Huskers? ensuing two games, but did score his fourth touchdown of the season on a one-yard run at Iowa State. Davies received ample work in the next two games, toting the ball three times for 33 yards in a 24-13 win over Missouri. He had a 22-yard run inside the Tiger 10-yard line, setting up a David Horne touchdown that tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. A week later, Davies tied his season high with five carries at Oklahoma State.

Davies carried three times for 14 yards and helped clinch Nebraska’s 38-31 come-from-behind victory at Texas A&M. After a late Husker interception thwarted A&M's potential game-tying drive, Davies bulled his way for a 10-yard run to help Nebraska run out the clock.

Davies did not have any carries against Texas or Kansas, but had 13 carries in the season’s final three games. He tallied 13 yards on three carries at Kansas State, then capped the regular season with a five-carry, 59-yard effort against Big 12 North champ Colorado. He had three carries of nine yards or longer, including nine and 23 yards on consecutive runs in the second quarter, setting up a field goal to give NU a 10-7 lead.

He capped his junior year with five carries for 15 yards against Ole Miss in the Independence Bowl. Davies also threw an incomplete pass on a fake punt attempt in the third quarter.

2001 (Sophomore)
Davies started 11 games at fullback as a sophomore. He totaled 238 yards rushing on 40 carries and scored four touchdowns, including two against Baylor. He gained 119 yards against the Bears, one of four Huskers to top 100 yards in the game, tying an NCAA record.

More than 200 of Davies' rushing yards came before he suffered an ankle injury against Texas Tech that limited him to one carry in three games. He capped his sophomore season with five carries for 16 yards in the 2002 Rose Bowl, including a 16-yard third-quarter touchdown run. In addition to his rushing totals, Davies also had two receptions for nine yards and two tackles on special teams.

Davies had five carries for 21 yards in a 27-10 win over No. 17 Notre Dame. He found the end zone for the first time in 2001 against Rice, scoring on a three-yard TD plunge in the first quarter as part of a five-carry, 14-yard evening. Davies had a career game against Baylor in Waco. One of four Huskers to eclipse the 100-yard plateau (also Thunder Collins, Eric Crouch and Dahrran Diedrick), Davies gained 119 yards on 12 carries, more than double his next highest career carries total, and scored two touchdowns, including a career-long 42-yarder.

Davies' lone carry against Texas Tech went for a 25-yard first-quarter touchdown, but the run proved costly for the Huskers, as Davies sprained his right ankle on the play. He was lost for the remainder of the game and was not at 100 percent the rest of the season. He played only the first series against Oklahoma and did not make the trip to Kansas. He returned to the lineup with five carries for 23 yards at Kansas State, but had just two carries vs. Colorado. Davies? blocking at Colorado helped Nebraska amass 354 rushing yards and lock up its 15th NCAA rushing crown.

2000 (Redshirt Freshman)
Davies played in every game as a redshirt freshman in 2000 as the backup fullback to Willie Miller. He was Nebraska’s No. 2 fullback and had 18 carries for 183 yards, and also had three receptions for 49 yards. Davies had a season-best 65 yards rushing vs. Missouri and got into the end zone on a three-yard touchdown against Kansas.

He had three runs of 25 yards or more, a career-long 57-yarder vs. Baylor, and runs of 32 yards and 27 yards against Missouri. He had a career-long 27-yard reception vs. Kansas. In the Alamo Bowl, Davies had 17 yards on three carries and a 17-yard punt return. He was also a member of NU's punt coverage and kickoff return teams.

Before Nebraska (Millard North HS)
The Gatorade Nebraska Player of the Year in 1998, Davies rushed for more than 2,700 yards and 45 touchdowns during his high school career. Davies was a teammate of Husker cornerback Pat Ricketts and receiver Mike McLaughlin under Coach Fred Petito. He helped the Mustangs to a 10-3 record and an appearance in the state semifinals by rushing for 1,500 yards and 23 TDs. He also made 90 tackles as a linebacker.

Davies earned super-state honors as a fullback from the Lincoln Journal Star (also as a sophomore) and first-team All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald in 1998. He was the OWH Offensive Honorary Captain and the LJS Co-Player of the Year (along with fellow Husker Trevor Johnson). Davies was a SuperPrep All-American and earned honorable-mention honors from USA Today. His junior season was cut short after he tore his left ACL. Before the injury, Davies rushed for 380 yards in less than three games after totaling more than 900 yards and 20 touchdowns as a sophomore. Davies attended Husker camps three times, and only visited NU, but was also recruited by Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Kansas State and Stanford. He also lettered two seasons in baseball and graduated with a 3.99 GPA. He was the Bnai Brth Scholar-Athlete of the Year and received the Dr. Floyd Paynter Memorial Award, signifying the outstanding scholar-athlete in the Omaha area.

Personal
The son of Dale and Nancy Davies, Judson "Judd" Davies was born on Feb. 9, 1981. He married the former Traci Wyzgoski in June of 2003. Davies boasted a 3.901 cumulative grade-point average in pre-medicine/communication studies and graduate in 2003. Davies was a three-time academic All-Big 12 pick and a Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District VII honoree.

Davies was also active in the community, serving as a volunteer speaker in the Lincoln and Omaha area schools, and making numerous hospital visits. He was a classroom speaker for the 2003 School is Cool Week and a featured speaker on the 2002 Tour of Excellence. He has also volunteered with Special Olympics. For his efforts, Davies was named to the 2002 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team. He also enjoys leading Bible study and working with his church youth group. Davies was a four-year member of the Unity Council (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003).
