  • 2002 Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll

2004 Outlook
Sophomore defensive tackle Brandon Greeson hopes to push for playing time this fall on Nebraska's defensive line. The Huskers have three experienced tackles in juniors Titus Adams and Le Kevin Smith and sophomore Brandon Teamer, but defensive line coach John Blake will be looking for a fourth tackle to be part of the regular rotation, and Greeson is among the leading contenders for that spot.

Greeson carries 290 pounds on his 6-3 frame and has the athletic ability to make an impact. He saw limited time last season after redshirting in 2002.

2003 (Redshirt Freshman)
Greeson was a reserve defensive tackle and appeared in wins over Utah State and Troy State, but did not record a tackle.

2002 (Redshirt)
Greeson sat out as a redshirt in his first season at Nebraska and underwent shoulder surgery, but returned in time for spring practice.

Before Nebraska (Central HS)
Greeson was a standout defensive lineman for Coach Gary Whitman at Central High School in High Point, N.C. He started all four years, and earned All-Northwest and all-area honors as a senior defensive lineman. Greeson was picked to play in the Shrine Bowl All-Star game, and helped lead his teams to the playoffs each year, including a 15-0 record in Greeson’s sophomore year. Greeson earned all-city, all-area and all-conference honors his last three years, totaling 150 tackles each year, with at least 10 sacks, 30 tackles for loss and five breakups in each of his four years. As a senior, Greeson was a team captain and totaled 10 sacks, four fumbles caused, three fumbles recovered and 155 tackles.

He also threw the shot and discus in track, qualifying for regionals his junior and senior year. The starting center and team captain of his basketball team, Greeson averaged 12 points and 15 rebounds per game. Greeson also visited North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Michigan, before committing to Nebraska.

Personal
The son of Kathy Greeson, Brandon’s uncle is Michael Wright. Brandon was born on Nov. 2, 1982, and is the second High Point Central product to play at Nebraska, following tight end Eric Alford (1993-94). A communication studies major, Greeson was named to the 2002 Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll.
