Lincoln – University of Nebraska Baseball Coach Mike Anderson announced the signing of Ryan Hines to a National-Letter-of-Intent during the spring signing period.

Hines, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound left-hander, has compiled a 7-3 record with a 1.63 ERA this spring pitching for Millard North High School and Coach Dave Cork. The senior southpaw has struck out 64 hitters in 64.1 innings, helping the Mustangs to a 25-10 record and a berth in the state tournament this week.

"The school has a great tradition and was a perfect match for me," Hines said. "The coaches were supportive and encouraging, and I’ll have a chance to play with a great recruiting class next spring."

After transferring from Omaha Creighton Prep, Hines went 3-3 with a 3.94 ERA to earn first-team all-conference honors as a junior. In addition to his exploits on the diamond, he is a two-time state swimming qualifier, who placed fourth and fifth in the 100 and 200-meter freestyle, respectively, last spring.

"He’s a big, strong physical kid who we had in our camps last summer and we have followed throughout the spring," Associate Head Coach/Pitching Coach Rob Childress said. "He has a great frame at 6-5, 210 pounds and it will be fun to watch him develop in our program. He knows how to pitch and has a chance to help us next season."

Hines, who selected Nebraska over Creighton, Washington and Evansville, also has been a member of the honor roll throughout his high school career.
