The Huskers continued preparations for the Aug. 30 opener with a two-hour practice on Tuesday.

Lincoln -- The Nebraska football team worked out for just over two hours on the Memorial Stadium turf, going through a small station scrimmage while continuing preparations for its Aug. 30 season opener against Oklahoma State. Head coach Frank Solich was pleased with the effort he saw Tuesday.

"It was a bit of a long practice and hard," Solich said. "We scrimmaged some at the end as a team in stations. I was pleased with the way we worked through things at the end. We're in good shape and mental spirit, and are where we need to be."

Solich said the scrimmage lasted about 12 plays with the first offensive and defensive units squaring off, along with the second offensive and defensive units facing each other.

Solich said the practices in general have been encouraging.

"I like the way we've been practicing," Solich said. "It's been a lot more one-on-one than ever before and more physical than usual."

Nebraska returns to the field Wednesday for its final two-a-day workout of fall camp. The Huskers begin action at 7:30 a.m. and follow up with a 3:30 p.m. practice.
