Wednesday night’s Husker Athletics Radio Show featured Nebraska Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst, special guest and new Nebraska Athletics’ Hall-of-Fame inductee Rich Glover and NU’s two head golf coaches – Robin Krapfl  (women) and Bill Spangler (men).

Eichorst talked about Nebraska’s A Night at the Lied annual celebration banquet, the Huskers’ annual Spring Football Game and NCAA recruiting reform legislation. In addition to his duties at Nebraska, Eichorst has worked diligently on both the ad hoc committee and the football oversight committee for recruiting reform legislation.

The NCAA Division I Council acted last Friday to offer potential Division I football student-athletes earlier opportunities for official visits to college campuses and increase their access to college coaches. The Council also acted to make the recruiting environment more transparent and better tied to high schools.

Current student-athletes also will have increased access to coaches under the football recruiting proposal, adopted as a package by the Council. The proposal comes a year after an attempt to restrict coaches’ participation in camps and clinics failed.

Eichorst, Riley Will Make Eight Nebraska Stops From May 8 Through May 12

Later in the Talk to the Director of Athletics Radio Hour, Eichorst said he and head football coach Mike Riley will visit eight Nebraska cities in five days from May 8 through May 12. The visits begin in Lincoln on May 8 and conclude in Nebraska City on May 12. Other stops include Alliance, McCook, Grand Island, Omaha, Elkhorn and Fremont.

Studio host Greg Sharpe pointed out that since Eichorst arrived at Nebraska in 2012, Nebraska’s director of athletics has made more than 600 appearances across the country and more than 400 in Nebraska.

Editor's note: Nebraska Head Football Coach Mike Riley will join Sharpe Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Husker Sports Radio Network.
