In Carolina, Mike Minter had four tackles, two breakups and returned a Brad Johnson pass 29 yards for an touchdown, as Carolina posted a 27-24 win over defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay. It was Carolina's first interception for a touchdown since Minter's 40-yard return for a score versus Detroit (9/15/02). A seven-year veteran, Minter ranks as the Panthers all-time leader with 307 interception return yards and three interception returns for a touchdown and stands third with 13 interceptions.
Mike Rucker continued to made a strong bid for his first Pro Bowl, making four tackles, including a six-yard sack. Rucker is tied for the NFL lead with 11 sacks, as Carolina is 7-2 on the season and has a three-game lead in the NFC South.
In Kansas City, former Huskers Will Shields and Eric Warfield helped Kansas City improve to 9-0 on the season with a 41-20 victory over the Cleveland Browns, Shields helped the Chiefs to 438 total yards, including 350 through the air. The win also guaranteed the Chiefs, who are enjoying their best start in team history, their first winning season since 1999. Warfield, who had five tackles and a pass breakup, helped the Chiefs turn two turnovers and hold Cleveland to 199 total yards.
