Sophomore I-back Cory Ross was elevated to No. 1 on the depth chart Tuesday after a 119-yard performance vs. Kansas.

Lincoln, Neb. --- Working more than two hours in full pads, the Nebraska football team continued preparations for Saturday's regionally televised contest against Kansas State. The game is set to kick off at 2:36 p.m. and will be seen on ABC.

The matchup features two of the top rushing teams in the country facing off in a game that will go a long way to decide the Big 12 North title. Nebraska ranks fifth nationally in rushing offense at 241.6 yards per game, while KSU is 10th by gaining 221.6 yards per contest.

The Huskers gained 290 yards on the ground in a 24-3 victory last weekend at Kansas with sophomore I-back Cory Ross igniting the NU ground attack by rushing for a career-high 108 yards on 19 carries. Ross was elevated to No. 1 on the depth chart Tuesday.

Kansas State also throws the ball for 207.5 yards per game, giving it one of the most balanced offensive attacks the Huskers will see. Nebraska will counter with a Blackshirt defense that ranks No. 1 nationally in pass efficiency defense, No. 4 in scoring defense and No. 8 in total defense.

NU head coach Frank Solich said the Blackshirts scrimmaged a little against the No. 1 Nebraska offense Tuesday, helping it prepare for the speed it will see across the line Saturday.

"Overall, things went pretty well," Solich said. "We went some ones versus ones, and when we did, we worked on the option game. We will see quite a bit of speed with the option (Saturday), and hopefully the defense will understand that type of speed heading into the weekend."

Nebraska prepared for the matchup in Memorial Stadium, taking full advantage of the mild weather not normally associated with November practices.

"This would be great for everyone because this is as ideal as it gets," Solich said about the weather.

Solich reported no new injuries and said that, "The guys we have out there are feeling good. One starter is still banged up but we hope to get him back quickly. Brandon Teamer moved well and seems to have overcome his injury."
