Senior guard Brian Nelson will provide depth in the Husker offensive line this fall. He enters fall camp listed fourth at right guard. Nelson has played in just one game as a Husker, battling injuries throughout his career and missed most of last season with a left shoulder injury.
A reserve offensive lineman throughout his career, Nelson?s only game action came in a 59-0 victory over Baylor in 2000. A walk-on, Nelson redshirted in 1999.
Before Nebraska (Millard West HS)
Nelson played offensive tackle for Coach Dan McLaughlin (current Husker graduate assistant) at Millard West High School. Nelson earned honorable-mention all-state honors and was a second-team All-Metro pick in helping the Wildcats to the Class A state championship game in 1998. Nelson also earned three letters in track.
The son of Russ and Kristi Nelson, Brian was born Dec. 9, 1980. He is majoring in horticulture and is scheduled to graduate in May of 2004.
