Wong-Orantes and Keil Win Chaminade Hawaii Invitational

Honolulu, Hawaii- The Nebraska sand volleyball team took on Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific at the Chaminade Hawaii Invitational on Sunday at Queens Beach.

Nebraska’s No. 1 duo of Justine Wong-Orantes and Melanie Keil won the overall championship over Amber Rolfzen and Kira Larson. Cecilia Hall and Alexa Ethridge won the consolation round.

The Huskers dominated the tournament as all four teams in the semifinals were Nebraska teams. The first semifinal featured Brenna Lyles and Alicia Ostrander against Amber Rolfzen and Kira Larson, while the second semifinal was Keil and Wong-Orantes against Mary Pollmiller and Kelsey Fien.

All Husker teams went undefeated against Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade, with their only losses in the tournament coming against fellow Huskers.

The Huskers return to action on Wednesday as Nebraska will take on Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., at 5 p.m. CT.
