Lincoln - The Nebraska football team completed its fifth practice of the spring Wednesday afternoon with a full-padded 2-hour workout inside the Hawks Championship Center.

"Everybody is still excited," defensive lineman Jared Crick said. "I think it's going good so far. We've got to keep it going."

Crick knows that filling the shoes of former Husker All-American Ndamukong Suh will be a difficult task, but he said the entire D-line is ready for the challenge.

"Suh was a great player for us," Crick said. "We think of it as playing together. You take one person out, it doesn't matter. As long as the other three are doing their job, the whole D-line will keep its structure and keep its integrity. It's about the team."

While Suh shined in the 2009 season, Crick also built up solid numbers and earned a spot as an All-Big 12 first team selection. Still, Crick said he is not worried about potential accolades this season.

"For myself, I'm worried about the D-line and D-line only," Crick said. "I don't care what happens to myself. As long as we function as a unit and play great as a unit, that's all that matters."

Crick singled out Terrence Moore and Baker Steinkuhler as teammates who are having great spring practices so far, but said everyone has shown positive signs.

"We've just got to be consistent about it," Crick said. "There is not one guy who has slacked this spring. Everybody's really shown out. We've just got to keep it going and keep it consistent."

The Huskers return to the field Friday afternoon for the sixth of 14 spring practices leading up to the April 17 Red-White Spring Game. Less than 15,000 tickets remain, which can be purchased by visiting or by calling 1-800-8BIG-RED.
