Blackshirts Prepare for Longhorns

Lincoln - The Nebraska Cornhuskers continued in their preparation for the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskers practiced indoors at the Hawks Championship Center and outside on the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice fields in full pads. After practice, defensive coordinator Carl Pelini addressed the media about the Blackshirts, the Longhorns' offensive attack and their sophomore quarterback Garrett Gilbert.

"They have a lot of weapons. In the back field they have a good quarterback, great speed at wide receivers. We have to match their speed."

Pelini went to talking Gilbert and his big game experience.

"You just watch him, he's very efficient," said Pelini. "He makes good decisions, doesn't throw a lot of bad balls, and doesn't get rattled under pressure."

Pelini believes that Nebraska's secondary is going to be challenged this week with Texas' wide receivers.

"We've faced good receivers. I don't know if we've faced as many as they can put out there. They do a good job protecting them. The quarterback makes good decisions. This will be a good challenge for a secondary, no question."

Saturday's game between the Huskers and the Longhorns kicks off at 2:30 p.m. The game will air regionally on ABC.
