- Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll (Fall 2012)
Sophomore Ross Dzuris will move into his third year in the Husker program this fall and is hopeful of earning playing time at the defensive end position. The 6-3, 250-pound Dzuris saw action with the top defensive units during spring ball and is in the mix for action behind projected starters Randy Gregory and Greg McMullen.
A walk-on from Plattsmouth High School, Dzuris has made excellent strides in the weight room during his time in Lincoln, adding more than 15 pounds of muscle.
2013 (Redshirt Freshman)
Dzuris added depth at defensive end, but did not see action in a game.
Dzuris redshirted his first season at Nebraska.
Before Nebraska (Plattsmouth HS)
Dzuris was a force on the defensive line for Plattsmouth High School, leading the Blue Devils to consecutive playoff berths during his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, Dzuris earned second-team All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald and was part of the Lincoln Journal Star Class B all-state football team after collecting 103 total tackles, including 45 solo stops.
During his junior season, Dzuris finished with 52 tackles and four sacks. For his efforts, he was named a first-team all-state selection by HuskerlandPreps.com and was a first-team all-area selection from the Omaha World-Herald. Dzuris was also a standout on the Plattsmouth basketball team, where he earned honorable-mention all-state recognition as a junior. He also competed in track and field. Dzuris participated in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl in June of 2012. He chose to walk on at Nebraska over scholarship offers from North Dakota and South Dakota.
Ross was born on Oct. 13, 1993, and he is the son of Bob and Leesa Dzuris. He is majoring in business administration and was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2012. He has volunteered time with the Husker Heroes, Husker Hotline, Uplifting Athletes and local hospital visits.
