After completion of a 2 -hour workout inside the Hawks Championship Center Friday afternoon, Nebraska has only one practice remaining before the final week of spring drills.

The Huskers will switch practice to a Monday-Wednesday-Thursday format next week, as Nebraska is just eight days away from the sold out Red-White Spring Game.

“We can really see the tempo and the energy level picking up,” tight ends coach Ron Brown said. “I think the kids are in pretty good condition. They’re flying around. The hustle and effort is pretty relentless right now.”

Nebraska worked on situational drills Friday afternoon, while also experimenting with defensive blitzes and an unrestrained offense. The Huskers will hit the field again in less than 24 hours for a practice that could include up to 45 minutes of scrimmage time.

“We’re going to try to ramp it up a little bit and move the ball for the first time this spring,” offensive line coach Barney Cotton said. “We’ll actually let the offense go and let the defense try to stop the offense for about half the practice. It will be about half-normal, half-scrimmage (practice).”

Nebraska’s Saturday workout will begin at 10:15 a.m. inside the Hawks Championship Center.
