Omaha native Matt Manninger was among a group of 29 seniors to complete their Nebraska career in 2012. Manninger provided depth at linebacker throughout his Nebraska career, and also saw action on special teams during his senior season.

2012 (Senior)
Manninger played in three games, seeing action against Idaho State, Minnesota and in the Big Ten title game against Wisconsin.

2011 (Junior)
Manninger added depth at linebacker, but did not play in a game.

2010 (Sophomore)
Manninger was a reserve linebacker, but did not appear in a game.

2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Manninger was a reserve linebacker, but did not see game action.  

2008 (Redshirt)
Manninger sat out his first season in the program as a redshirt. 

Before Nebraska (Omaha Creighton Prep HS)
Manninger earned honorable-mention Class A all-state accolades from both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World-Herald as a senior. A two-year starter at Omaha Creighton Prep, Manninger started at middle linebacker, leading his team to playoff berths each year of his prep career. Manninger led the state of Nebraska with four fumble recoveries.

Manninger was getting interest from several Division II schools before choosing to walk on at Nebraska, joining high school teammates Colin and Conor McDermott in the Huskers' 2008 walk-on class. 

Matt was born on Sept. 22, 1989, and is the son of Mike and Mary Beth Manninger. He earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2013 after majoring in dietetics and nutrition, exercise and health science. He was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2013. He has volunteered time with the Special Olympics, People’s City Mission and team hospital visits.
