Andy Wingender played in nine career games, including five as a senior. The fullback had two carries for four yards, including one carry as a senior and a career-long five-yard gain against Rice in 2001. He also played against Kansas in 2000 and 2002, and against Baylor in 2000. A walk-on, he redshirted in 1999.

Wingender played fullback and linebacker for Coach Jim Kane at Elkhorn Mt. Michael High School. Wingender ran for about 1,000 yards and scored 16 touchdowns as a senior to earn all-conference and all-area honors. He also lettered twice in track and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal
The son of John and Jeanne Wingender, Andy was born on Aug. 18, 1980. A five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, Wingender earned an economics degree in December of 2003.
