Huskers Return to Field for Second Spring Practice

Lincoln, Neb.---The Nebraska football team took the field for the second time this spring on Friday for a 2 ½-hour workout inside the Hawks Championship Center. The Huskers practiced in only helmets and sweats for the second straight practice to open spring ball.

Even though the Huskers have only practiced in helmets so for this spring, senior defensive tackle Jared Crick has been impressed with how the team has competed through the first two practices.

"So far it's been a pretty good spring," Crick said. "The first couple days we're out here in the shorts just playing fast, that's the main thing. We'll put on the pads tomorrow, and that's when we'll really get after it. Right now, I'm seeing really good things from both sides and seeing guys getting after it."

Crick pointed to the spring as a time for each player mature individually, and said nobody is worried about the depth chart at this point in the year.

"This is strictly time to get better as an individual," Crick stated. "We're not worried about a depth chart right now. We're just trying to get better every single day. No one is worried about spots right now. It's just getting better as a person and player. Right now, there are no worries about filling spots or any of that."

The Huskers will continue their spring practices on Saturday with a practice scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The Red-White Spring game at Memorial Stadium is set for April 17 at 1 p.m.
