The Nebraska football team concluded its first week of bowl preparations on Saturday with a two-hour workout inside the Hawks Championship Center. Head coach Bo Pelini said after Saturday’s practice that he has been impressed with the way his team performed this week as they prepare for the match-up with the Clemson Tigers in the Gator Bowl.
“We have some things we need to get fixed, but we have gotten a lot done the past couple of days,” Pelini said. “We’re doing a little mix between our stuff and Clemson, some good on good. We have a good jump on Clemson and we’ll follow that up with four more practices next week.”
One thing that coach Pelini has been impressed with in the Huskers bowl preparations is his team’s work ethic. With a little less than three weeks before they play some coaches might expect a team’s tempo to tamper down, but that hasn’t been the case for these Huskers.
“Our tempo has been great,” Pelini said. “I’m happy with that. I think the focus has been good. These kids have learned how to practice. They’ve had the tempo we expect. That hasn’t been an issue at all. We have had great tempo.”
The Huskers will take Sunday off to study for finals before returning to the practice field on Monday. Check back to Huskers.com for more information on the Huskers as they prepare for their match-up with Clemson in the Gator Bowl on January 1.
