The Nebraska football team practiced for 2 ˝ hours on the grass practice fields outside the Hawks Championship Center on Wednesday afternoon. The Huskers are wrapping up their final preparations for the Spring Game this Saturday. Head Coach Bo Pelini talked about what the fans will see with the quarterback situation on Saturday.
“You’ll see all three guys, and all three of them will get some reps,” Pelini said. “Cody Green we’re going to be a little careful with, because we don’t want him to open up running too much.”
Pelini said he was happy with the way his quarterbacks were progressing throughout the spring, and feels confident with his depth despite an injury to Kody Spano earlier this week.
“I think you look at Zac (Lee), he’s clearly ahead right now,” Pelini said. “But all those young guys have had good springs. I feel good about the quarterback position. I think Zac’s had a tremendous spring, and the younger guys have all learned, and I feel good about where we are.”
Pelini noted that LaTravis Washington was “further ahead” than he thought he would be at this point in the spring. Pelini and the rest of the coaching staff are excited about the game this Saturday.
“We’re going to let guys go out there and compete,” Pelini said. “We’ll get a lot of looks at a lot of different guys. Everybody will play and everybody will get an opportunity to go out there.”
Kickoff for the Spring Game is set for 1 p.m. this Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Tickets for the contest remain available through the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office (1-800-8-BIG RED) or on-line at Huskers.com.
