Matt Baldwin appeared in 20 games as the reserve center to Matt Hoskinson, Josh Heskew and Dominic Raiola throughout his Husker career.

1999 (Senior)

Baldwin served as the Huskers' No. 2 center behind starter Raiola. He played in six regular-season games.

1998 (Junior)

Baldwin served as the Huskers' No. 3 center behind starter Heskew and Raiola. He played in four regular-season games.

1997 (Sophomore)

Baldwin played in seven games as the No. 3 center behind Heskew and Hoskinson and assisted the Huskers to national titles in rushing (392.6), total offense (513.7) and scoring (47.1). Baldwin had one "pancake" (knock-down block) in seven games.

1996 (Freshman)

Baldwin played in three games as a reserve center.

1995 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Baldwin redshirted his first year in Lincoln.

Before Nebraska (Mullen and Bear Creek High School)

Baldwin played center for three years and left guard his senior season. He also played on the defensive line, where he earned all-state honors from The Denver Post. Baldwin earned all-state accolades as an offensive lineman from The Rocky Mountain News. He was tabbed as an All-American from Bluechip Illustrated, an All-Midlands region selection by SuperPrep and a Tacoma News-Tribute Western top 100. He recorded 91 stops his senior season and had 28 career tackles for loss. He played his first three years of prep ball at Mullen High School for Pete LeVine, then transferred after his junior season to Bear Creek in Lakewood, Colo., and helped lead Coach Tom Thennell's team to its first league championship in the 71-year history of the school. Baldwin also threw the shot and discus. He picked Nebraska over USC, Minnesota, Hawaii and Colorado State.


The son of Stan and Leah Baldwin, Matt was born on Nov. 27, 1976. Matt majored in communication studies and earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in August of 1999. He was a volunteer in the Lincoln Public Schools' Ventures in Partnership Program, Sticks for Kids, and the Huskers' E-Mail Literacy Program and was named to the 1999 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team for his efforts.
