Huskers Prepare for Showdown with K-State

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln - Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini met with the media on Tuesday at Memorial Stadium to discuss the Huskers' upcoming Big 12 North showdown with Kansas State on Saturday. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium is set for 6:45 p.m. with live national television coverage by ESPN.

The Huskers (7-3 overall, 4-2 Big 12) will try to clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game as the Big 12 North champion by beating the Wildcats. Nebraska has reeled off three straight wins, and a victory over KSU would give the Huskers a shot at the Big 12 title with one regular-season game remaining at Colorado. Kansas State comes to Lincoln with a 6-5 overall mark and a 4-3 Big 12 record. A win for the Wildcats would also put them in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Saturday's game will also be Senior Day in Lincoln, and the Huskers will honor a small but successful senior class. Pelini said this year's group of seniors is distinguished in their resolve and perseverance.

“Well, it’s a small group. It’s only 13 seniors and I believe a number of them, I think eight of those seniors, are in their fifth year. They’ve been through a lot. They went through a lot. They have obviously been through a coaching change and they’ve persevered. I think they have represented this program well. I think at least four of these guys started as walk-ons. They all kind of have their own story. They have all been through a lot. They’ve persevered and I think they have done a great job at leading this football team this year. Like I said, we want to send them out winners.”
