After escaping snowy Lincoln on Christmas night, the Nebraska football team is going through its first full day of activities in sunny San Diego as it prepares for its Dec. 30 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl matchup with Arizona.
The day began with a two-hour practice in half-pads at San Diego State University. The workout was Nebraska's second since a holiday break as the Huskers practiced in Lincoln before departure on Friday evening.
Head coach Bo Pelini said Nebraska is happy to be in San Diego and was pleased about the team's first practice in its host city.
"We had a really good practice," Pelini said. "The attention to detail was good. The guys were flying around and had great enthusiasm."
The head coach said the attitude and work ethic shown Saturday by the Huskers was a carryover from Nebraska's practices before splitting up for the Christmas break last week.
"We got a lot done before we went on break and I was real happy with (Friday's) practice before we left," Pelini said. "They took a great approach to that before we left. I like where we are at - I think we're real fresh right now."
Following Saturday morning's workout, the Huskers were off to Sea World for an afternoon of fun.
Nebraska will return to the practice field on Sunday morning at San Diego State. On Sunday afternoon, the Huskers will take part in a team event at the World Famous San Diego Zoo.
The Holiday Bowl game against Arizona will kick off shortly after 7 p.m. Central Time next Wednesday. For more information and photos from Nebraska's Holiday Bowl visit, please check Huskers.com.
