Petteway Named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week
Nebraska guard Terran Petteway was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week Monday morning after leading the Huskers to a 2-0 week. The sophomore from Galveston, Texas averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as Nebraska posted wins against Illinois and at No. 9 Michigan State to improve to 6-6 in Big Ten play.
Petteway led the Huskers with 23 points, including four 3-pointers and added five rebounds and two assists in helping the Huskers to their first road win over a top-10 team since 1997. He had 16 of his points in the second half, as the Huskers snapped a 29-game road winning streak against top-10 teams and won for the fifth time in the last six outings. Petteway also had 16 points and four rebounds in NU’s 67-58 win against Illinois on Wednesday.
Petteway is the second Husker to earn the weekly honor, joining Shavon Shields, who won the award during the opening week of the season.
In addition, Petteway was also chosen as the Big Ten Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
The Huskers are 14-10 on the season and host Penn State Thursday at 6 p.m. A limited number of returned tickets are now available by calling 800-8-BIGRED or visiting Huskers.com.
