*-Ray Gallegos set a career-high with seven 3-pointers, which is one shy of the school mark held by Cary Cochran (8, at Baylor, 2/2/02). It also marks the fourth time this year that Gallegos hit at least six 3-pointers in a game. It also marked his sixth 20-point game this season.
*-With seven 3-pointers. Gallegos raises his total this season to 81, which moves him into sole possession of second place on NU's single-season chart. Only Cary Cochran, who hit 89 during the 2001-02 season has hit more in a season than Gallegos.
*-Gallegos also became NU's single-season record holder in minutes played today, as he has now played 1,158 minutes this season. He broke the record of 1,155 by Dave Hoppen in 1984-85.
*-Iowa's 57.1 shooting percentage matched an opponent team-high against Nebraska this season (also Kent State). Iowa is only the fifth opponent to shoot 50 percent against the Huskers this season.
Nebraska Head Coach, Tim Miles
"It was a 10-1 start, and we finally got it to within two in the second half, but then they went on a 15-0 run. It looked to me like a mismatch. You don't normally allow that many dunks and have it go your way."
On allowing Iowa to score in the paint...
"We didn't do a very good job containing the screen-and-roll. We also have a couple of guys that will over help and not protect the rim. I thought we had that down but maybe not."
On Nebraska's weaknesses in today's game...
"We missed a couple of easy shots early. Defense was our big weakness. They shot 70% in the second half. We never got consecutive stops. We never got any stops, even when we got it to two points. We were probably just outscoring them at that point. We hit a whole punch of threes. We just didn't want to take the bit today, dig in, play defense, and bite it the way you have to."
On David Rivers not playing much in the second half...
"[David Rivers] did not play much the second half because they were hurting us so much in the paint. We brought in Andre [Almeida] to give us physicality. Andre [Almeida] lost his discipline by over helping. He was trying too hard almost."x
