Lincoln – Seven Nebraska men’s basketball players were honored for their academic accomplishments this week, as they were named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for their efforts during the spring 2013 semester.
To qualify for the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 GPA during the previous academic semester. The seven Huskers honored from the spring semester include Kye Kurkowski, Trevor Menke, Walter Pitchford, Shavon Shields, Jordan Tyrance, Brandon Ubel and Sergej Vucetic.
In addition to the seven student-athletes from the 2012-13 squad who were recognized, former Husker basketball player Christopher Niemann also was honored, as he finished up his degree with a triple major in computer science, computer engineering and mathematics and graduated in May.
In all, a total of 347 Nebraska student-athletes had a GPA better than 3.0 during the spring semester, including 47 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
