1983: Senior Season
In his final season as a Husker, Todd Oakes appeared in 12 games, starting 10 of those. Oakes tossed five complete games, compiling an 8-1 record. Oakes pitched nearly 67 innings giving up 73 hits, 38 runs, 35 earned runs and striking out 36. Oakes had a 4.73 ERA on the season. A standout in the classroom, Oakes earned second-team Academic All-American and Academic All-Big Eight honors in 1983.
1982: Junior Season
In his first season as a Husker, Oakes was the team leader in wins, innings pitched, and in complete games in 1982 while rolling up an 8-3 record in his first season with the Huskers. Fine control, Oakes had the second best ratio of strikeouts to walks (1.6 K's for every walk) among pitchers with over 40 innings of work. Named Big Eight Pitcher of the Week for his 10 inning complete game victory over Iowa State. Pitched three complete games in first four starts. Chosen by his teammates as a co-captain for the 1983 season. Also had a fine outing against Kansas State, striking out a season high nine batters.
In his final season at Waldorff college, Oakes compiled a fine 10-1 record. He served as co-captain in both of his two seasons at Waldorff.
