Lincoln - Nebraska football fans with tickets to Saturday's game against Kansas are encouraged to arrive early and attend the Husker women's basketball team's season opener with Vermont at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Football fans can present their game tickets and receive free admission to the NU women's battle with Vermont, which is scheduled for an 11:35 a.m. tip-off.
The game with the Catamounts at the Devaney Center not only marks the regular-season opener for the Huskers, who won the 2010 Big 12 title and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, it will also be the regular-season debut of two-time Nebraska High School Player-of-the-Year Jordan Hooper.
The 6-2 freshman forward from Alliance has averaged 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a starter in a pair of exhibition victories for the Huskers.
Senior Dominique Kelley from Lincoln Northeast High School also returns for the Huskers. The honorable-mention All-Big 12 pick averaged nearly 13 points per game a year ago, while helping Nebraska to a 32-2 overall record and a perfect 16-0 league mark.
Nebraska's game with Vermont will feature a pair of 2010 NCAA Tournament teams. The Catamounts produced one of the best seasons in school history a year ago, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a win over Wisconsin, before falling at Notre Dame. The Cats closed the season with a 27-7 overall record that included an America East Conference Tournament title.
Doors to the Devaney Center open at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
