Lincoln - The Nebraska women's basketball program and the Husker Athletic Ticket Office are announcing a special "March Madness" season ticket sales event starting Monday, March 12 at 8 a.m.
Husker fans who want to join the growing excitement around the Nebraska women's basketball program can go on-line Monday morning to Huskers.com and place a $25 deposit per ticket to secure their new season tickets for the Huskers' 2012-13 campaign. Fans can also purchase tickets by phone during regular business hours at the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office (M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) at 1-800-8-BIG-RED.
In the final season at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, the Huskers are expected to return four starters and six significant contributors off the bench from the 2011-12 team that closed the regular season with a 24-8 overall record, including a 10-6 mark in NU's first Big Ten campaign. The young Huskers, led by National Player-of-the-Year candidates and All-Big Ten performers Jordan Hooper (So., F, Alliance, Neb.) and Lindsey Moore (Jr., G, Covington, Wash.), made an historic run into the Big Ten Championship Game by winning their first three games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The young Husker roster is filled with six freshmen contributors, including Big Ten All-Freshman selection Emily Cady from Seward. Cady has been joined in Nebraska's starting five all season by fellow freshman forward Hailie Sample (Flower Mound, Texas).
Nebraska is expected to earn an at-large bid into the 2012 NCAA Tournament on Monday when the NCAA Selection Show announces the tournament bids on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. (CT). It will be the Huskers' fourth NCAA Tournament bid in the past six seasons (2007, 2008, 2010, 2012) and eighth postseason appearance in Coach Connie Yori's last nine years in Lincoln.
Current Nebraska women's basketball season ticket holders do not need to make a deposit for existing tickets. Current season ticket holders will receive their season ticket renewal late summer and will continue to receive No. 1 priority for seat allocations at Pinnacle Bank Arena. If current season ticket holders would like to purchase additional tickets, they can do so now with a $25 deposit per new ticket.
New season ticket holders for the 2012-13 campaign will receive No. 2 priority in seat allocations for Nebraska's new Pinnacle Bank Arena in the summer of 2012.
Ticket prices for the 2012-13 season have not been set. Season ticket prices for 2011-12 Nebraska women's basketball games were $180 (A-Level-sold out) and $144 (B & C-Level reserved). General admission season tickets were just $72 for adults. Nebraska expects to play 15 or 16 regular-season home games at the Devaney Center in 2012-13, including eight home Big Ten Conference contests. The Huskers also will play two exhibition games at the Devaney Center.
