Three XC Student-Athletes Earn Diplomas

Lincoln- A total of 55 Husker student-athletes, including four Nebraska cross country athletes received their diplomas at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s commencement exercises at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday morning.

Head Coach David Harris, now entering his third season at the helm said goodbye to four graduating seniors including Lincoln native, Trevor Vidlak. The Lincoln Northeast product earned his degree in management, after ending his career with the Huskers as a three-time captain (2011-13), earning Nebraska Most Valuable Cross Country Runner in 2011.

On the women’s side, Sarah Plambeck headlined the women’s list. The Lincoln native graduated with a nutrition, exercise & health degree after having a productive career as a Husker. Plambeck finished her career as a two-time captain, earning Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Athlete in 2012-13. Plambeck was also a five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.

Anna Minnick also graduated Saturday. Minnick, an Omaha native graduated with a degree in Art Education K-12. Minnick earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2012-13 was a five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll also.

NU’s May 2014 graduates came from near and far to call Nebraska home during their careers. The group came to Lincoln from 13 states, including 22 native Nebraskans. Members of the graduating class also came from five foreign countries, including Canada, Germany, Hungary, Latvia and Singapore.

Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the country, while leading the nation in the number of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans (310) and NCAA Top 10 Award winners (17) across all sports.
