Two Huskers Earn Academic All-District Honors

Two members from the men’s and women’s gymnastics team were named to the 2014 Capital One Academic-All District Seven Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. The men's squad produced one of the 11 selections on the district team with Eric Schryver, while Emily Wong represented the women's side. Both were first-team selections and will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot.

Nebraska’s record holder on pommel horse, Schryver will look for his first CoSIDA Academic All-American selection. The Richardson, Texas native, earned his bachelor’s degree in nutrition and health sciences in May of 2014 holding a 3.91 GPA.

Wong, an 11-time All-American in competition for Coach Dan Kendig’s squad, earned second-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors last year as a junior. The native of Grand Forks, N.D., posted a stellar 3.92 GPA as a nutrition science major and will look to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second straight year.

The 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-America teams are set to be released in late June. Dating back to 1988 the Nebraska women’s gymnastics team has 14 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and the men own 15 selections.
